Zeldman abuses market dominance.

Really, its true. Berry, (it’s her name) who runs a rather pretty weblog. Gains the honor of being the first person I don’t know that has linked to me. She even had nice things to say. ^_^ yay for Berry. She does seem to be obsessed with some guy from Buffy though. Give her courtesy visits.
Went out with Susie to see a good thursday passion play at her church. My review: Read the Book. It’s better.
Yes, i know its not friday any more, and i would give an excuse about how i worked almost 13 hours today, but that would ruin the not-work-related nature of this post. And yes, i’ve done better. Do you want it or not? I’m just gonna put it down here… If you want it. Take it.
today’s wallpaper has curtains in it. Eat it up.
My recent talk section of my menubar got out of hand. because of long words that refused to wrap. Its fixed for now. I’m currently seeking out a way to keep it from happening again. (Props to: Nathan, and My Dad. For alerting me to this problem.) (Semi-props to: Brian, and Eric. For breaking my website more to ensure that i wouldn’t miss this problem. ^_^)
Today at work we were making a typical delivery. Sofa, love seat, chair and all the acessories. The man who was helping us was apparently the boyfriend of the woman (a Psycho lady who will hereafter be refered to as PL) who bought this stuff. Anyway we had just finished bringing in the last piece and we were showing the guy how to put the legs on the sofa when the PL shows up. She asks “Are you going to set this up?” She didn’t pay for set-up. It wasn’t on out invoice. DK the driver says “No we aren’t.” She flipped out. I’ve seem people get upset before, but this was insane. she was “So pissed.” and she told us. A number of times. Then she called the store, and told everyone there. Even more times. She just “Couldn’t understand why she wasn’t told…” There are signs in the stores that say assembly is required. And on the invoice even. “So pissed… etc.” The people at the store tell her that she can pay us $60 and we’ll set it up for her. “I’ll do no such thing. I’m so pissed. If i would have known when I ordered this i would have paid then.” Right. That makes a lot of sense. About this time her boyfriend got a prank call on his cell phone. Someone asking for Dipshit. He proceeds to call eveyone he knows asking if they know someone who would call him asking for Dipshit. PL is still on the phone yelling at the people at the store. DK is on his cell phone talking to the manager. This is a COD delivery. We can’t leave until we have some money. We learn that she has an out of state checking account. <sigh…> I went and sat in the truck to read.
I’m reading Microserfs, by Douglas Copland. An amazing Book about, geek culture, modern love, search for meaning, and the effect of Legos on the molding of our lives. I read two/thirds of it at work today.
New wallpaper: Three Cords2: A celebration of electric colors and bad puns.
Misc housekeeping: The wallpaper archives have been updated to show the larger 400x300 preview image instead of the thumbnail. thus increasing their usefulness. Also, I have fixed the bug in the comment pop-up that would redirect people to the archive page when they post a comment instead of refreshing the comments in the pop-up window.
The friday wallpaper is late. but at least it is. get yours here: GB Camera!
Quite the day at work yesterday. I wrote it down. In chronological order: [more...]
Purple people playing Pooh Sticks should seldom ‘sume that think tree tops foster faster floating fragments. Ask any aging antelope, “Mister? Must many master river riders risk ridicule, condemnation, ‘cause canned corn…”
This exercise in incessant illiteration is unfinished due to my truncated day at work. So i propose a contest. Read on for details: [more...]
Woot! I got the new release of MovableType installed and working today. In honor of this event i’ve added a “Recent Talk” section to the menu bar. which now makes me as cool as Eric. Maybe cooler, as my site isn’t mean to people who don’t use IE for Windows.
This new release will also allow our friend Brian the snark wrangler, to redesign his site because his long broken issues are solved.
And the final stop in the Ann Arbor friend linking tour: Liana has added me to the links section of her very pink website. I’ve been watching for a while to see if I would be selected as the next person to push Mew even farther down into hiding. But alas, she moved the links to the other side, and Mew is again fully accessible.
I just checked my logs and found all sorts of interesting google referrals. I think this is why they invented site logs.
The list includes: Thomas Kinkade wallpaper, skull wallpaper, yin yang wallpaper, shamrock wallpaper, and an inordinate amount of searches for biker babe, and truck wallpapers.
Other log items of note: I’ve apparently got two hits from someone running Opera 6.01 on a 16-bit windows machine. And hits from Germany, France and Canada. Read on for full referral list: [more...]
New wallpaper: TripyTic. I’ve officially named my rabbit skull. I call him Hammerdown.
Today was crazy fun and busy. After church we were invited over to the Phillips for a traditional irish dinner of homemade corned beef and cabbage and other assorted veggies. Followed by a not as traditional but quite tasty leprechan pie. Which was followed by a slew of intense rounds of RummyKub (which apparently sells for under 20€ these days). I won. Then it was time to back to church.
After church we decided to head to Meijer for various foodstuffs. On the way we distracted ourselves with visits to see: John (We couldn’t remember is apartment number. So we tried buzzers till we found him). and Susie/Emily (It scares them if you knock on their door late at night when they aren’t expecting. I know. I’ve checked). All said and done, our morning trip to church ended up taking 14+ hours.
I’m not supposed to have to work Mondays… But tomorrow is an “exception.” Sigh.
My wife just pelted me with baby carrots. I think i annoyed her. Shes all happy cause she just found the one that landed in the living room. There’s nothing worse than rotten baby carrots stinking up the living room. Time to eat.
I think there are carrot boogers on my computer.
Here’s the newest wallpaper. sorry it isn’t greenish Nathan (friday’s won’t be either, but i’ll see what i can do about monday ^_^ ).
I actually have quite a bit to say today, and i still haven’t finished that Kinkade rant, but I am tired. I left for work at 9:30am and got home at 10:30pm. I don’t mind work stealing the greater part of my day. Thats what work is supposed to do. But Good grief. I probably wouldn’t mind long days as much if my job title wasn’t “Pick-up, move then put-down heavy-object when told boy.”
Good night!
Why is it that the best Penny Arcade strips all deal with hats?
Adobe has finally gone and released a Mac OS X native version of PhotoShop! It even has new features! Woot!. Now if i could just get my bank account to meet the extra money needed to buy it…
Skulled. The proverbial yin-yang of rabbit skull based desktop wallpapers. Get yours today!
One of my professors at school gave me this skull to use in my artwork. I promptly covered it in spraypainted paper and duct tape. I’m sure this isn’t the last time you he’ll show up. Currently he lives on my desk, atop my speaker. He needs a name. Any ideas? Ann votes for herbie.
A friend of mine, Dan Winiarski, ran into some trouble with the beach ball gestapo for the detriot tigers. Read on for his story, and what you can do to help.
[more...]I reprocessed all of the thumbnail images for the archived wallpapers. A lot of them were discolored and over saturated. (This was effecting the thumbnails, and the pop-up images.) They are much better looking now. So take a gander at the archives again, you might like what you see better now.
Incase you can’t tell by glancing at the menu on the right, the new wallpaper for friday is up. Thomas Kinkade has annoyed me again. Rant will follow.
You heard it here first folks. Plurality is in fact, an illusion.
Exciting day at work today! I moved all of the stuff that we put in the truck yesterday, and we loaded the truck with 15 couches. So far, only three of them needed to be carried up to third floor apartments. So it’s not that bad. Of course there are still 12 in the truck.
I have a job. I move furniture. I move furniture for a guy named Sameer. I move furniture for a guy named Sameer at a mall furniture outlet named Shamrock Home Furnishings. I wait a lot. Then i shove boxes around a truck when the driver points at them. He doesn’t speak much english, so he points. Then i wait. Then the lock freezes on the truck so we can’t get anything out of it. Then i go home. Its lovely.
If you were having problems today, they should be fixed. Ignotum Inverted, wasn’t inverted. and Ignotum’s 1024×768 version, didn’t exist. and finally, the front page, well it didn’t vaildate as XHTML anymore. all of that is happier.
Now serving Ignotum.
And, Ignotum Inverted
This is the third installment in a series of “cricket in sucker” themed wallpapers. The others are Crickited (and Crickited Inverted), and Pond of cricket. In case you were wondering. Yes, that is a real cricket. And it is inside of a real sucker. Sound disturbing? It is. Which is exactly why you should buy some for all of your friends. Get your own at HotLix.com. and while you are at it, order a bag of BBQ worms, and put them out for your guests.
Curious about the text? I could tell you what it is, but i won’t. You can look it up here though. Or better yet, buy the book, and find out for yourself.
Find it here.
Look deep into this mess, wherein there lies the goopy green mass of seeds that is the inside of a passion fruit. Passion fruit is ugly, it is a dried up and shriveled shell containing fruit that is at the same time, sticky, gooey, sweet. And bitter. Not unlike the passion of human love. Fruit passion is pretty much necessary. Human passion runs the world. It is the fire in the belly that drives men to dream, and follow those dream till the end. There is a world out there just waiting to be altered.
My parents are using Martha Stewart™ Paint for their new house. Now, I have no real respect for the woman, but she did manage to put together a nice line of paint colors. Or at least she hired some people who put together a nice line a paint colors for her. At any rate we are using these colors. Because there are so many Martha Stewart™ colors, they are all custom mixed at the store and they all come in cans that are identical. With little codes scribbled on the lids.
It seems H18 is not the same as E15. Tomorrow I will get back up on the 20’ scaffolding, and paint the ceiling again, this time will E15. The H18 was for my parents bedroom ceiling.
While i was looking around i noticed that all of the thumbnail and preview images. are over saturated and over cast with purple and green. i’ll get new ones up early next week. the fullsize download images are correct.
