Where oh where oh where is Shadow?

Sometimes you watch your child do something or learn something new and you are just completely bowled over by it. It just knocks you over. The greatness and wonder of it all. It makes you laugh and smile and cry at the same time. It gives you this wonderful feeling that it just too hard to describe except for the fact that it is almost too much.

If you could bottle that? Oh, you would make millions. Because it is the cure for any sad, depressing, or grouchy feelings. It is the antidote to anything not “glass half-full”.

Yesterday, Tim and I watched as Connor realized that he had a shadow. I’m not sure if I have ever seen anything so precious. He was playing in the sunspot right by the sliding glass door and realized that if he moved one way or another, the shadow moved. And then he would try to touch it. And he’d move forward, until he was completely in the shade and the shadow would disappear. And then he would step back and it would appear again. Forward and back, forward and back. At one point, he even gave his shadow a kiss.

Seriously - I so want to just capture that moment in time forever. Because it was soooooooo funny watching him do that. And so sweet. And so precious. Yet, so fleeting.

Life just seems to be moving so fast lately. Seems like just yesterday, he was just noticing things like his fingers and toes. Now he’s onto complex things like shadows. Next, he will be solving the algebraic equations that Tim and I keep leaving for each other on the fridge.

(Side note: We are such geeks, I swear. I bought Connor this magnetic number/letter kit for the kitchen fridge and it came with basic math symbols as well. Tim and I keep leaving equations for each other to solve on the fridge. They aren’t that hard to solve, but kind of hard to put together since you only have one number for 0-9. It presents a challenge. Tim’s last one? Was weak, people. 70×1=Q. I think that means I win.)
