Eleven years ago Chronicle Books published a book by Nick Bantock called Griffin & Sabine. The book featured beautiful postcards and artfully decorated envelopes stuffed with letters depicting the unfolding correspondence between the two title characters. Griffin Moss receives haunting letters at his London apartment from the beguiling Sabine Strohem, a denizen from the far-off Sicmon Islands. Sabine can see his paintings and drawings in her head as he creates them. Two more books were added (Sabine’s Notebook and The Golden Mean), and the story finished as a trilogy.
Then The Gryphon was released, and the trilogy has become a series. Alexandria is the newest release from Bantock. More of his work can be found on his website www.nickbantock.com.
